The German Criminal Justice System Explained in English

For almost a year now, this blog has been mostly about the Jens Söring case, but I plan to return to actual posting about the German legal system, now that the situation around Söring seems to have gone quiet. Obviously, I’ll come back to Söring if there are any new developments!

But for now, from a criminology mailing list I’m on, here’s a helpful flowchart of the basic steps of the German criminal justice system in English:

This appears to have a formal imprimatur, so now we have solid English translations of Maßregel zur Besserung und Sicherung, one of the most clumsy phrases German law has produced, if you ask me.
